Felipe Drago

Born in Brazil, Felipe Drago began playing the drums in 1984. He later moved to Los Angeles to study music and graduated from the Musicians’ Institute (MI) in 1996. He has worked extensively as a recording artist and performer in both L.A. and in Brazil. As his career grew, so did his reputation for not only playing the drums, but for teaching the drums too.

Drago has worked extensively as an extremely active contributor to music manufacturing industry websites and programmes including Modern Drummer Brasil and more recently, Drum Education Live. His programmes and methodologies have been adopted by COM (Centro de Orientacao Musical), and Voice Musical Centre of Sao Paulo, Brazil, as well as the Eubanks Conservatory of Music and Arts and Planet Drum.

Now residing in London, Drago has studied with famed drummers, Dom Famularo and Billy Cobham and is now a respected member of the Sabian Education Network (SEN) and D’Addario Education Collective.

In more recent years, Drago’s accomplishments include the publication of his first book, Play the Drums (Wizdom Media/Alfred 2016) and speaking on the Sabian Education Network panel of experts at the 2018 UK Drum Show.

A regular attendee of drum and percussion events as far afield as Paris, Arizona and California, Felipe has become a prominent figure in the drum manufacturing industry who continues to run a successful teaching practice in London. He is a proud endorser of Evans and Promark.
